ENJOYING THE MOMENT
When I did my PhD – was finished about 12 years ago now – it had to do with what might be needed for humanity to live sustainably, our impacts on the planet that gives us life, and where things are headed. It was very challenging to confront and the more I looked into things, the more bleak the picture became. It took quite a toll on my mental wellbeing. I even spent some time reading on how scientists in this field – researching the state of the planet and the trajectory we are on – coped with what they were confronting every day of their lives.
For me, dealing with it all was tough going but one piece of advice I received was to look for places of beauty in the world and bask in that moment. It took a while for me to be able to do this, but I have now found a way to do so even while knowing that our species seems hell bent on destroying the very thing that sustains us.
This series is one of capturing some of this beauty – a place I love to visit, Hallett Cove - and enjoy the shades of blue, movement of the sea, the sound of the waves against the rocks, the sky against the ocean, and the distant horizon.
